Four Insolvency Control Service's employees have obtained CAMS certification

Four employees of the Insolvency Control Service have obtained the internationally recognised ACAMS certificate (CAMS) in the field of anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism and proliferation to be able to implement the supervision and control of the Law on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorism and Proliferation Financing  (hereinafter – Prevention law) at the highest level of quality.

The certificate was awarded to Inese Steina, director of the Insolvency Control Service, Agnese Barojana, deputy director for supervision, Eduards Lipskis, deputy director of the Second supervisory department, Raimonds Balabkins, legal adviser of the Second supervisory department.

Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) certificate is an internationally recognised certification that verifies knowledge and is considered the "golden standard" in the field of money laundering and the prevention of the financing of terrorism and proliferation. It is issued by the organization - Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS).

CAMS certification will facilitate to the training of insolvency administrators and the development of guidelines on issues related to the prevention of money laundering and the financing of terrorism and proliferation, as well as to the strengthening of competences to conduct inspections for violations of the Prevention law.

Pursuant to Article 45(1)(10) and Article 77(1) of the Prevention Law, the Insolvency Control Service shall independently supervise insolvency administrators in compliance with the requirements of the Prevention Law from 12 July 2021.
